No way frozé

I remembered hearing about frozen rosé last summer and thought, that must be fairly easy to make? And that it is!

Whilst planning a virtual pub crawl for two of my best friends 21st birthdays earlier this month, it took me a while to try and find my recipe for cocktail making in one of our virtual bars.

Take wine, strawberries and honey (or syrup if you don’t have/like honey) and be prepared for a summer cocktail of dreams.

The recipe serves 6, however I halved the recipe on my first attempt and drank it in one go, so it really depends on your portion preferences. It is however best served straight from the freezer so the quicker you drink the better.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of your favourite rosé, saving 1/4 of a bottle to add to the blender with the frozen mix. I used a blushed rosé this time which made the drink a lighter pink but still tasted just as good as a standard bottle of the good stuff. If you have extra wine on hand you could also use this for top ups or to make an ever bigger batch.

  • 8 strawberries, halved with the tops removed

  • 1 tablespoon of honey (or syrup)

And that’s it!

Method:

1. Blend your rosé wine with the strawberries and honey/syrup until combined fully. Pass the liquid through a sieve into a freezable container so no seeds or goopy bits of strawberry make their way into the tub.

2. Once sealed, freeze the tub for 6 hours minimum, but preferably over night. You could go for an ice cube tray option to make controlled portions, but after freezing it’s best to use within a few days as it affects the way the alcohol freezes, and who has any self-control when it comes to wine?

3. Once you’re ready to drink, pop the frozen mixture back into a blender with the left over rosé and blend until combined to your perfect drinking texture. If you prefer, split the frozen mixture into chunks and blend separately with a splash of the saved wine for individual portions.

4. Pour into a glass of choice and if you can’t wait, get sipping, or if you prefer add a strawberry to the glass and decorate to your hearts content.

And it really is as easy as that! Delicious, refreshing and just enough kick to get you tiddly. Well it worked the trick for me!

The most basic yet perfect summer drink. Many, many of these will be consumed by me this summer so I hope you give it a go too.

Cheers!
