A night fit for a Queen: Leeds hotel review

So I may not have blogged for a while and have said this about 5 times already this year… but I am going to really try and get back into this typing & writing & blogging thing. Not with any real goal or direct purpose, but mainly for my own personal growth and development.

One of the reasons I set up my blog in the first place was to match my job (digital marketing) with my hobbies (anything lifestyle related). Although post-pandemic life has only really started picking up for me, what has been busy is work. Always busy.

That being said, I had the absolute pleasure of reviewing The Queens Hotel in Leeds as part of a feature we did at work recently. You can find the review over on Niche Magazine’s website, or have a gander below!

In summary: although it felt way too posh for someone as basic as me… it was an amazing experience to be treated like royalty and spend the night in a stunning room after some of the best food I’ve had in a long long time. The company was pretty good too…

“If you’re looking for an autumn/winter city break or planning ahead for a 2022 staycation, The Queens hotel in Leeds is the place to go.

Travelling from the outskirts of Leicester, travel time by car took roughly two hours, with an 8 minute walk from the nearest car park. If you’d prefer to take alternate travel route, The Queens hotel is closely located by a train station.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by incredibly welcoming staff who made us feel right at home in and instant. We were shown to our room which was accompanied by city views and an immaculate 1920s gatsby style decor. The king size bed ticked all the boxes for comfort, making it harder to leave the following morning.

Dinner at the in house restaurant, The Grand Pacific speaks for itself. They quote themselves on being “A mysterious exotic oasis splashed with eastern excitement and seasoned with echoes of empire” and the atmosphere on the night reflected this perfectly.

Our Vegetable Spring Roll and Duck Gyoza staters hinted at the eastern excitement the GP promises, and our hamburger and fillet steak mains put a refreshing exotic twists on the pub classics. Washed down with an ice cream dessert and a few cocktails, we couldn’t fault the menu one bit.

The staff were unbelievably helpful and super friendly throughout the evening, catering for an allergy in our party without hesitation, making us feel even more comfortable. It’s safe to say the service was served with a genuine smile. This same dining experience continued down at The Grill for breakfast the following morning, albeit a little more casual.

I was nervous before arriving when it came to the food element of our visit after experience the phantom taste symptoms of long covid. For the last few months, savoury foods have been quite unpleasant for me but luckily for me the flavour of all the dishes we chose showed covid who’s boss!

The general atmosphere for The Queen was amicable from arrival to departure and I would highly recommend paying them a visit if you fancy a night fit for a queen.”
