Although I was (very) excited for my weekend in London to see Childish Gambino live at the O2 in early November, his postponement of the show didn't stop me having a fantastic weekend in the big smoke!
London Baby!
After replying to emails and re-setting my concert countdown, me and my fellow concert goers decided to carry on with our weekend trip, making the most of an opportunity for some site seeing! The boys and girls split off for the day after our swift travel down, with mine and Izzy's first stop being the Spice Girls steps. Who wouldn't take the opportunity to use the fancy hotel toilets at the station, and pass the famous 'Wannabe' stair case?
From there we wandered, Costa Christmas cups in hand over to Carnaby Street: our main attraction for the day. Why you may ask, well for Queen of course! Not our Liz, but the Queen exhibition placed at No.3 Carnaby Street, to celebrate the release of the Bohemian Rhapsody film. After seeing the film just a few days before the trip, we didn't want to miss the little archive of Queen memorabilia (movie and real!) or the recently decorated street shining with lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody. After many attempts of getting a good photo of the lights in the sunshine, we decided to stay near by for a better photo* when the afternoon drew to a close. *we both work in marketing, it's in our nature!
Next stop was lunch, a wander down to Liberty (mainly for the Christmas floor) and a quick trip to Oxford Street without breaking the bank before rekindling with Carnaby Street and the show stopping lights. Popping into a vegan café may have been accidental but nether the less, we had a quick tea stop which was the perfect place for some more photos (told you it's our nature!). From here we wandered some more over to Covent Garden, stopping at China Town and Leicester Square before meeting with the boys for a spot of pub grub.
We then spent the evening back at the hotel room we booked in Greenwich with a few drinks before hitting the hay after a day of walking and Instagram photo shoots. Part two of our trip saw Greenwich Market, and a Ferry Taxi across the Thames to begin our tourist driven adventure; visiting Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and a Christmas market near Westminster.
So, although we have to wait a few more months for Gambino, I still had a bloody marvellous weekend! Lots of walking, eating and sight seeing with the best company can't go wrong in my books. Oh and I started my Christmas shopping too, so that's a bonus!
